Daniel Cameron Won’t Uphold Constitution & Three Other Facts From Greg Stumbo’s Clear Victory In Last Night’s Attorney General Debate
Last night, KET held the first debate for Kentucky Attorney General. While Mitch McConnell’s protégé Daniel Cameron lacked substantive answers to the most pressing questions, Democrat Greg Stumbo demonstrated that he’s the experienced, knowledgeable leader that Kentucky voters can trust to put the people first.
Here are four facts from last night’s debate:
1.Daniel Cameron won’t uphold the Constitution
When asked by the moderator if he would be willing to defend laws passed by the state legislature that are unconstitutional like the “Sewer Bill” , Daniel Cameron said (31:15), “our responsibility is to enforce and defend those laws that are passed by the General Assembly.” When asked again by the moderator, Daniel Cameron said, “no”.
2.Daniel Cameron admitted he has no court room experience
When asked by the moderator if he ever prosecuted a case, he refused to answer and instead pivoted to discussing depositions and other non-courtroom experience.
3.Greg Stumbo showed innovation in tackling the opioid crisis
In the debate last night (37:15), the moderator asked about support for medical marijuana. Greg Stumbo, as part of his ongoing effort to reform the Kentucky criminal justice system and find new ways to prevent further pain and suffering due to opioid crisis, he is supportive of the use of medical marijuana in small doses as prescribed by doctors.
4.Greg Stumbo has the legal experience that makes him ready on day one to tackle the opioid crisis
With clear wins in the courtroom and experience taking on Purdue Pharma, Greg Stumbo has the legal and executive experience needed to get to work on day one fighting for Kentuckians across the Commonwealth when it comes to holding those accountable for the devastation caused by the opioid epidemic.
As Kentucky AG, Greg Stumbo was one of the first state Attorneys General to hold the opioid industry accountable for their role in the opioid crisis. (1:50)
As someone with the leadership experience, legal background, and forward-thinking reforms, Greg Stumbo showed Kentucky voters last night that he is outright the best choice for Kentucky Attorney General this November.
